Tunics are one of my favorite items of clothing to wear.  I wear them all the time in a number of different ways.  I love this trend for several reasons.  Firstly, they look great! Secondly, it's something that can be worn year round, whatever the weather!  And lastly, it can be very forgiving on those bloated days when you need to disguise the mid section!  What more reason do you need to wear a tunic?

I love to throw one on with a pair of jeans or leggings, & I particularly love to wear them in the Spring/Summer with flowy linen pants.  I have a number of tunics with different embellishments - from sequins and embroidery to beading and hardware!  They look great in a solid color and also in brightly colored prints.  I love buying beach cover-ups and wearing them as tunics.  TJ Maxx have a great selection of them at the moment and I recently bought a couple of different ones that I can't wait to wear.  Naturally it goes without saying that the beach cover-ups worn as tops should be worn with a cami underneath as they are very sheer!  If you want to add some definition you can belt it to emphasize your waist.  This look can be worn with any shoe - but I prefer to wear it with a heel to add height and to help elongate the look.  All these tricks help ladies!

If you are very bold you can wear a tunic as a dress!  I've seen a number of ladies rock this look with a great pair of embellished sandals.  I don't wear it this way because it doesn't suit my body type, but if you're tall and lean with a great pair of legs, go for it!  Just make sure the hemline is somewhat appropriate!!

Now again I have to remind you that as with anything it's all about the cut and fit!  Just because you're wearing a tunic, don't think that it can just be big and baggy, because that will only make you look bigger than you are.  Ideally the tunic should be tapered in it's cut, that way it will be way more flattering (this rule does not apply if you're wearing one at the beach as a cover up!).  So take a look at some of these tunics and start planning....
