Pink is a favorite for this season...

Some of the recent collections during the various fashion weeks in the world had one thing in common - the color pink! Designers showcased their take on the palette that is grown-up, not girly.  The collections were refreshing to say the least, with a delicate ladylike purity.  From blush and bubblegum, powder and petal pink, and all sweet shades in between, I think what your wardrobe needs this season is a pink pick-me-up!  And after having to deal with one of the worst winters I can remember, I know I'm ready for this color to cheer me up!  How about you?

Take a look at some of these looks from the recent runway shows and start planning your pink look now!  I know I am!!

This bubblegum-colored coat by Miu Miu channels a sophisticated ladylike translation of fifties style. Love this coat!

I absolutely love this look!  Revisiting the garden for Spring, Elie Saab drew inspiration from precious blooms to work his traditionally romantic fabrics of Chantilly lace and crepe in rosy and salmon shades.

Ahhhh, an ode to the English rose, the pastel palette of Burberry Prorsum's London show blushed with antique dusty, rosy and petal pink shades.  Fabulous!

Isabel Marant's Spring 2014 collection gave blushing baby pink the 'it cool-girl' status Marant is known for. Playing up prettiness with a girlish edge, lingerie-like ruffles and petal pink fraying lattice paired with rock 'n' roll worthy leather!

Celebrate your curves with these feminine looks...

On the recent runways, Lanvin's Alber Elbaz, Stella McCartney, and Marc Jacobs were just a few of the designer's who kept the focus on the waist by adding peplums, panniers, and padding to the hips for va-va-voom impact!  Now the reality is that most of us don't need padding on our hips to get that curvy, hourglass shape, so I guess we're at an advantage, right?

I think it's quite ironic that while most women spend time trying to figure out how to disguise this area, at last the 'real' shape of a woman is finally being celebrated on the runways!  Way overdue but nevertheless a relief that it is finally being shown that a woman looks great with curves, and I think if you were to ask most men, they would agree that a woman with curves is way more sexy and appealing than a bag of bones......just saying!!!

So with that said, take a look at what some of the top designers put out there on the Fall runway's this year, and feel inspired to celebrate your shape!!

Find Your Body's Best Dress...

Every year there are new trends that are all the rage.  And if you're a fashion follower you probably like to be on trend and therefore try all the new trends.  However, many people give little thought to whether new trends are flattering them.  I'm here to tell you, not all trends are for you!  You can be fashionable and on-trend without being a 'slave to fashion' and wearing items that do not flatter your shape, are not age appropriate or just simply don't suit you!

Today I'm going to share some high-fashion figure flattering dresses, so hopefully this will help you when shopping so that you will purchase a piece that will only flatter your shape and increase your self-confidence!

You might be lacking in curves, but if you're reading this, you don't lack a sense of style.  This summer it's definitely time to join the peplum and/or structured skirt bandwagon.  Adding volume and shape to your lower half will accentuate both your bottom and top half.  It's like a two-for-one deal for amping up your looks.

Straight Talk

It's true that women with bodies that are curvy face some dressing challenges.  We need to make sure there's some spandex in our pieces for stretch and movement, and we need to be careful not to reveal too much and look tacky!  On a less curvy woman being revealing doesn't raise an eyebrow, but if you have a cleavage, people will think you look less than classy if you let it all hang out!  We should keep it simple and chic because what we have on underneath is display enough!  This stunning dress by Issa is exactly what I'm talking about.  Let your shape be your guide and let your pieces show it off.

Curves Ahead

Shorties can easily get lost in flowing gown-like maxi dresses.  But for a woman with a few extra inches on her frame, they're an ideal piece for day and night.  If you're on the tall side, a long, flowy dress like this is ideal for those warm summer nights.

Statuesque

It's called the inverted triangle, sometimes the apple, and it refers to a shape that's a bit top heavy.  What it needs is detail and/or volume around the hip area to create balance.  Think of Donna Karan as your inspiration.  She's one of the reigning queens of draping for flattering a woman's figure.  I love this dress!

Top Down

You might call yourself a triangle or a pear.  Either way, you're an ideal candidate for mid-length dresses that float and follow your movements.  Keep your shoulders and chest exposed for balance and to draw the eye upward.

Bottom Up

Shoulders...many say they're the most beautiful part of a woman, while others know we can have insecurities about a set we feel is too wide.  If this is the case, stick to wide straps, halters or tops cut like this dress.  Drawing the eye inward will create the illusion of a more balanced pair.

Go Wide

If you have the opposite concern, shoulders that are too small, feel free to look for dresses that have extra straps and details, creating a focal point and the gift of shoulders that look further extended than they are.

It's All in the Details

Love your arms?  Then definitely show them off!  You don't need layers and short sleeves, you need looks that are going to put them on display.  Here's one : Thinner straps and skin tones will have onlookers checking out those beautiful arms.

Retro looks!

There is an old saying that everything that goes out of style always comes back around again.  This has been shown to be particularly true with retro styles of the 1960s and 1970s which seem to stay in vogue.  From clothing to hair, the hottest looks of today often look a whole lot like yesteryear!  And I just love it when I can remember certain trends from the first time around, like flared pants, ponchos, or bold floral printed pieces!  If only I could still fit into my clothes from that time....no matter, I still love these retro looks and I love the sense of nostalgia it brings.

Another retro style that is often in style is the hippie or more commonly called bohemian look.  Free-flowing tops and dresses reminiscent of the 60s and 70s is the look to have!  Knee high and granny style ankle boots are often worn with flowing dresses and skirts.  One of the best ways to dress on the cutting edge of retro fashion is to shop at vintage clothing stores.  Not only do vintage clothing stores offer a wide selection of clothing from eras gone by, they are also an excellent way to shop in style and save some money as you go!
