A Tweed Jacket for Fall...

One the most important pieces in my wardrobe is the blazer.  I am a huge fan of this item and have them in many colors, styles and prints.  In the summer I wore linen blazers in tangerine orange, fuschia pink, white and black.  And now for the fall I have them in blue, gray, green, and red - as well as my floral print, leopard print etc, etc...the list goes on!  I just can't get enough of the blazer!

Not only is a blazer stylish and always fashionable, but it's an item that is flattering (when the cut is right), and can really pull an outfit together by adding the finishing touch.  You can dress it up or down, depending on the occasion, and it usually has a slimming effect, especially when it has structured shoulders and nips in at the waist to accentuate your waist.

However, today I want to focus on the tweed jacket.  Tweed is something that is back in style again (did it ever go out of style?).  This menswear classic reveals its feminine side, and it can work at any age.  Tweed doesn't need to be something your grandpa used to wear - now it's a fall staple, so give it a try!

Fall Outerwear Trends...

I know it's difficult to adjust to the reality of Fall weather, especially when we seem to have been experiencing a wonderful Indian Summer, but the fact is, Fall really is happening!  And with that, we need to start thinking about our outerwear garments.

This can be a part of our ensemble that is difficult to get right, because we want to be on-trend, we want to be warm, and practical!  The Fall runways showcased cozy cover-ups and statement outerwear in all shapes, colors, and textures.  The one common denominator found at the shows was that the garments were equal parts fashionable and functional, and just as seasonally appropriate as they are stylish, which is exactly what we all need.

I've selected a collection of some of the show-stopping outerwear from the streets to act as an inspiration to help you transition coolly into Autumn.

I love some of these outerwear garments, from the rich colors like the reds and greens, the faux furs, and the animal prints.  You can definitely still make a statement with the right outerwear, so take a look at what people have been wearing on the streets and get inspired to add some drama to your Fall look!

Fifty Shades of Gray!

I have always been a fan of the color gray....and this fall if you don't feel like sporting the bright hues that are currently on trend, you can always go to this color staple that is timeless and comes in many shades (fifty!?)...sorry, I couldn't resist that one!

Contrary to popular belief, the color gray is not drab or depressing.  You can wear anything from the palest and softest gray hue, to charcoal, or a silvery metallic gray, and I can promise you it will look anything but drab!  Unlike the overly amplified looks of past seasons that often take too much attention away from the girl in the clothes, gray forever stays understated and classic.

Gray also goes well with other colors if you want to mix it up.  Try it with teal, deep burgundy, pink, pale yellow or black, or try wearing different shades of gray (the tone on tone look) in your outfit.  For a classic Fall look, try wearing gray with a bright red!  Add a statement piece of jewelry and a great pair of boots or heels and you'll look fab not drab!

Here are some different looks in fifty shades of gray...
