As we all struggle to cope with the cold weather conditions of late, I thought that today I would concentrate on turtlenecks, skirts and scarfs! So take note and start planning how you're going to keep cozy...
Turtleneck - not only does it frame your face, but the toastier you feel, the cooler you'll look! Try a drapey cowl-neck. A large scale knit can be overwhelming, so shape it up with a hefty vest, perhaps in leather so that you have a different texture, and skinny pants. A woolly turtleneck with shorts? Go for it! The key to this combo is attitude - add tights (opaques), boots and a metallic bag to get it right! But do remember if you wear a more traditional turtleneck that this look is not flattering on everyone. If you have jowls, double chin, or a 'turkey neck', a high necked turtleneck will only draw attention to that.
Knit skirt - it's snuggly and gives you plenty of options. Think of it as a sweater for your bottom half. Forget the formula 'slim on top, roomy below', or vice versa. Sometimes a relaxed shape can work for both parts, if light and dark are in proportion. Try a patterned knit or a pleated look, both on trend right now. Also, try contrasts. A striped Tee mellows a black pencil skirt. Leather panels swank up a fleece jacket. Add a chic bag and heels and you have foxy and refined.
Scarves - As most of you already know I am a huge fan of scarves and believe they can completely change the look of an outfit. So not only do you get to keep yourself extra warm by adding this accessory, you get to look great too! There are so many choices out there now that it's difficult to choose just a couple. I have so many scarves now and still keep on getting more, but I love them and I love how just by adding this piece it can really pull an outfit together. There are several ways to tie them too, so try different looks for different occasions!
