Lace is a trend that has come and gone over the years, and one that not everyone can pull off.  I've always been on the fence about this trend, but on the few occasions I have worn lace, it has been just a touch of it as more of an accent to an outfit.  Lace is a trend that will either look great or look disastrous.  There are very few women that can pull off an entire lace outfit, I like to leave that to the models!  But a little can go a long way.  Also I think that it's a trend that is better suited to younger women.  For mature ladies I think less is definitely more!  I like the idea of a lace top that combines the femininity of the lace with a structured look.
