Florals for summer...get the look!

Florals are consistent with Spring & Summer and this year is no exception.  Floral designs were big on the runways and whether you're a fan or not, you can find a design to suit your tastes.  I love floral, and it doesn't necessarily have to be that girly girl look.  You can wear a floral print in a number of different ways, whether it be a sundress, shirt, pants, shorts, or just an accessory like a scarf or purse.

You can go with a big print or a small print, but remember ladies if you are petite don't drown yourself in a huge floral print, try to keep it small and if you're a plus size don't underwhelm yourself in a dainty tiny print!  Size does matter!

One of my personal favorite looks is a jumpsuit that I have (another big trend this year) in a bold print that I pair with a simple sandal & no accessories & subtle makeup as the print speaks for itself.  I also like pairing a denim jacket with a sundress (I particularly like white denim for summer) - this is definitely that boho chic look that I love!

Hats for summer...try the look!

Many of you know I love wearing hats.  I jump at the chance to wear a hat or fascinator to a wedding or other fancy event.  But today I'm going to focus on the more practical, day-time appropriate, every day hat.  They're stylish, perfect for covering up bad hair days (trust me on that one!), and protect your face from the sun.  In my opinion hats are an essential summer staple, regardless of the ensemble you're wearing.

A panama hat or fedora is ideal for those hot steamy days, and they add nothing but coolness to any outfit!  If you're not keen on the panama look, try a big floppy hat a la Jennifer Lopez or Kim Kardashian.  These look super chic too and go with any outfit.  I have the floppy hat in several different colors and love this look.  And remember, you don't have to stick to basic black or white for your hat.  Add a pop of color to your ensemble by adding a vibrant hue to brighten up your look, or try one with a pastel color if you prefer.

There are many choices out there for daytime hats, so don't be afraid to experiment.  Whatever your final choice, you're sure to look, and feel, cool!

Maxi Dresses work for everyone...

I'm a huge fan of the maxi dress!  There's nothing better than wearing one of these long, flowy dresses in the summer.  It's comfy and easy to wear and difficult to get wrong!  Personally I don't like to show my arms so I like to pair a maxi dress with a cropped denim jacket or cardigan/shrug, and it still looks great, so for those of you who like me prefer to keep the bingo wings covered, don't despair as you can still pull off this look!

I've always been a fan of this boho chic look!  You don't have to worry about pairing separates or mixing and matching....you just throw on your maxi dress with a pair of sandals and you're good to go!  If you want to make the look a little dressier, instead of wearing flat sandals pair with a good wedge heel sandal.

There are so many prints out now that it's hard to choose, and vivid bright colors and prints are all on trend this season so you won't find it difficult to find an array of great choices to pick from.  If you prefer a solid, there's plenty of those available too and you can dress it up with some great accessories like pendant, scarf or chandelier earrings.  However you choose to wear this look, it's hard to get it wrong!

The other great thing about this look is that it doesn't have to cost a fortune!  Most department stores have a great selection of maxi dresses.  I've seen great looks at Macy's and Target, and both were very reasonably priced.

So take a look at these maxi dresses and get your boho chic look started for summer....
