Celebrate your shape!

I believe that women are beautiful no matter what shape or size, but not all women know how to accentuate their best assets and play down what they don't like.  So this series is going to be called 'celebrate your shape' and over the next several day's I will be covering dressing for different shapes and how to accentuate your assets.  So be sure to check in daily to read my helpful tips...

While we often struggle with what goes with what and when to wear what, let's be honest ladies:  the biggest question we most often ask ourselves is "does this make me look fat?".  We've all had our moments when we don't want to leave the house because nothing seems to fit or look right.  Yes, dressing for one's body is challenging for everyone.  Whether you're thin, tall, short or full-figured, you probably have some body issues you are concerned with when it comes to finding clothes that fit.  But this should not be a cause for distress, as there are many ways to conquer these difficulties.  The starting point is being honest with yourself and then accepting who you are.  Embrace your figure!  Celebrate it!  Allow clothing to be your ally, not the enemy.  With a little consideration and some strategy, you can use your clothes to flatter your figure, always.

What to consider when learning to dress best for your figure:

  • Look in the mirror and make an honest assessment of your body.  Embrace your shape and who you are!
  • Know your assets - whether it's well-sculpted arms, a swan-like neck, or a wasp waist - and dress to enhance those features.
  • Accept the parts you are less thrilled with and dress to de-emphasize them.
  • Consider the pieces you feel most comfortable in.  Dresses?  Trousers?  Jeans?  Sweaters?  Then focus on finding the best cuts for you.
  • Be open to experimenting with new silhouettes.  Pieces you've always shunned could end up being the most flattering.
Whatever shape you are, you can look fantastic if you know the shapes that will work for you.  You don't need to be a supermodel to look good....
