The denim jacket is an American staple that has been around for as long as I can remember, and has maintained a status quo for women over the past 40 years. Almost all of us have one hanging in our closet (or several!!), and we pull it out like an old friend whenever the urge overwhelms us!  And like your favorite pair of jeans, they only get better with age!  There are enough variations and seasonal updates to allow you to find something to suit your purposes and personal style.  Alongside the classic cut denim jacket from Wrangler and Levi's, this season you will find customized versions...patchwork, denim distress, as well as colored versions, a classic white denim, and those with added design features such as lattice-work on sleeves.  But you will also find different cuts and shapes of jacket, from slouchy 80s styles to slimline blazers and loose shirt-style jackets.  My personal favorite is the classic shaped white denim and I recently bought a dark denim blazer that I now wear all the time.  You really can change up a look with this simple addition, and I love the look of wearing a sundress with a denim jacket!

But as always ladies, wear the cut to suit your shape, so read ahead and take note!!
Athletic shape - Go for the classic jacket shape, well fitted through the body and hitting just at the top of your hips.

Petite - Look for the classic style in a more contemporary cropped cut, finishing right on your waist and with cropped sleeves - perfect with cropped trousers.

Busty - Try a longline blazer that is structured through the body with a deep V-neck to wear over lighter colored tops.

Pear - Any style that has detailing towards the top - around the neckline or on the sleeves - will bring the eyeline upwards.  Pair with a pretty summer dress.

Take a look at some of these looks and get your denim jackets out of the closet....
