Tired of the same old do you've been sporting for some time?  I know the feeling!  As many of you know, a few months back I took the plunge and cut my long curly locks that I'd had for as long as I can remember.  I felt it was time for a change, and although I was nervous about it and it took me a while to adjust to my new look, it was definitely the right thing to do.  My new short, layered bob is much more manageable and dare I say it, age appropriate!  So if you're thinking about making a change, give into it by taking inspiration from the biggest names in the fashion industry.  From an alternative-styled pixie cut to a feminine layered look, here are some different hairstyles straight from the runway you should consider before your next salon visit.  But remember ladies, always have a consultation with your stylist before making a change, and take into consideration your face shape, lifestyle and hair type before going ahead with anything.  If you have a good stylist he or she will advise you before doing anything.


If you're the type of girly-girl who can't seem to part with her long hair, but are tired of the same boring do, take a cue from Billy Reid's Spring 2013 show and consider adding soft layers that will frame your face and soften your features.  Perfect for the long haired type, this romantic look will give limp locks added life and a feminine vibe.





For her Spring 2013 collection, Carolina Herrera catered to the modern woman, which was also evident by the sharp one-length hairstyles sported by the models on the runway.  If you are looking for a blunt change, this razor-sharp cut will give you just that.  Ideal if you want to cut off a few inches without having to go bob or the layered route, this modern mid-length feels fresh and unique to every other cut out there.

As for those of you who favor the pixie style, give it a more modern edge this spring by copying Marni's rock 'n' roll-inspired cut.  Choppier than before, this season's pixie favors uneven lengths, that essentially, and thankfully, make it easier to style and grow out later on.  For maximum effect, style with your fingers by tussling your hair around and using grooming cream.
