Cute, sweet and fun are just three words that sum up many of the novelty knits we're seeing this fall. And this look that was seen all over the runways is great if you're young and cute, but if you're in your forties then it's best to stay away from this trend.
Novelty knits that do work for the over 40s are graphic ones, with the dramatic lines and patterns looking more chic than sporting a sweater with a row of puppy dogs! You could also try a zig-zag sweater, with a great mix of colors, cool patterns and body conscious fit that skims your curves.
If you're going to wear a novelty sweater then keep the bottom half simple, as too much will be an overload on the eye and most likely unflattering.
