What to wear to that Holiday Party!

With the holiday season upon us, it's the month for parties, parties, and more parties!  And with that comes the stressing over what to wear!   We've all been there ladies!  The difficulty intensifies when it's time for the office holiday party, because we want to look festive and glamorous, but we also need to look appropriate for an office event.

I've been to many office parties over the years and I've seen it all!  From women who make no effort whatsoever and look nothing but drab and frumpy, to women who go all out with no rules and let it all hang out!  Well neither one of these extremes is acceptable if you ask me, so why not try looking glam & chic?

It really isn't difficult and you'd be surprised at what you can do with what you already have.  You don't necessarily have to buy a new outfit, but can very easily re-vamp something you already have.  If you already own a little black dress (and most women do!), but it's a very simple dress with no embellishments, there's so much you can do to make it look va va voom!  You can add some statement jewelry like the collar necklaces or cuff bracelets that are currently in, or add a dazzling brooch to add some bling!  You can add a great wrap in a bright hue to add a pop of color, or wear a pair of sparkly pumps or tights.

Remember that red is also a great color for this season, so if you have a red dress or a red top, now's the time to rock that look!  You can never go wrong with red for a party!

If you're not one to feel comfortable wearing dresses but you have a great pair of black pants, just add a top with a bit of sparkle, like a sequinned tank or a sweater with a great sparkly design.  The key to any of these looks is accessorizing!  Accessories can completely transform a look and don't cost the earth.

Add some glamour with your makeup too.  A red lip is all the rage right now, and there is a different shade for every skin type so you won't have a problem finding the right one just for you.  If you're not comfortable with a dramatic lip color, try the cat eye look.  It's sexy and will really make your eyes the focus.

But remember ladies, if you are attending a work party, don't wear something that shows either too much leg or cleavage - it's not appropriate and usually doesn't look good.  You don't need to show everything off even if you do have ample cleavage or great legs!  Remember - a little goes a long way!

I love wearing jewelry and accessories.  Wearing the right piece of jewelry can really make or transform an outfit.  Your jewelry preferences don't just speak volumes about your personal style.  Turns out, they can say a lot about who you are as a person as well.

The woman who seeks fine jewelry is grounded and confident in her style.  She focuses on a few quality pieces that subtly accent her outfits, rather than buying an abundance of trendy items.  She values jewelry with meaning and character that she can wear for years to come.




A woman who wears inspirational jewelry doesn't have time for a mish-mash of post-it note reminders. Instead, she layers in dainty word rings so each time she glances at her hand she gets a kick of inspiration throughout the day to stay focused on what she really wants out of life.

 


A woman who prefers vintage pieces is sentimental and romantic with a refined palate.  She radiates her favorite era and can be both artsy but slightly reserved.  She also appreciates the beauty in all things and is likely the type to literally stop and smell the roses.




A bold, statement necklace can add flare to any outfit, whether a basic white tee or a simple black dress, and speaks volumes to the woman rocking it!  She's most likely a show-stopper - fierce, confident and isn't afraid to stand out.




The girl who's into chains and spikes is a true maverick.  She's edgy, adventurous, not afraid to cross the line and loves to be experimental with life and fashion.

Try the Laser-Cut look!

Laser-cut detailing has been seen everywhere lately, and nowhere is the beam's ability to create patterns of astonishing intricacy more evident than when it transforms what used to be tough leather into a garment that appears to be as delicate as lace.  I saw it recently when I was out and staring at a lady's dress trying to figure out if it was lace, but upon closer inspection (yes, she let me look!) I realized it was leather that had been laser-cut.  The leather looked and felt as soft at butter, and the detailing of the laser-cut pattern was amazing!  This look can be done in many fabrics, not just leather, so don't feel you're restricted if you want to try this look.

I've seen several celebs sport this look recently, among them Maria Sharapova, Jordanna Brewster & Nicole Richie.  I Particularly like this look when worn in a vivid hue like blue or red as it allows the detailing to be more obvious than when it is worn in the more popular colors of black or white.
