My choice for today's Spring 2013 runway collection is none other than the wonderful Oscar de la Renta. I have always been a huge fan of his collections (unfortunately for me it's way out of my price range!), but what I loved about his 2013 runway show was that he delivered some surprises. This season, this included four sets of evening shorts, and latex in the form of a slick red T-shirt worn with a jaunty navy blazer and thigh-slit khaki skirt.
In fact, what his latest collection had going for it, as it often does, was its diversity. First ladies, society dames, Hollywood A-listers, Wall Streeters - Oscar has dressed them all. All of them will find something to like for Spring. For the minimalists, he showed an ivory linen pantsuit and a black silk dress. Maximalists had their choice of day suits in doily lace and fuchsia astrakhan. After dark, a pair of party dresses in feather-embroidered tulle were especially memorable, and I predict we'll be seeing a lot of the shocking pink strapless gown with the green silk pompoms in magazines.
One of the things I love about this collection is that there is something for everyone. Whatever your style or tastes - whether feminine and soft, hard and edgy, colorful or monochromatic - you will absolutely find something here that you love. There were so many outfits that I fell in love with here that if I had the money I would have ordered them all! Sadly, that's not to be - so please enjoy a peek at this beautiful collection by one of fashion's favorite designers.
