Tulip Skirts - Get the Look!

When you're choosing a skirt this Spring/Summer, be sure to consider the tulip skirt.  This trend for draped wrap skirts is blossoming everywhere among celebrities, and from the waist down almost evokes ancient Greek styling.

Flattering for all body types, the look is absolutely artful without sacrificing ease.  I will admit that at first I was a little reticent to try this look, but was very pleasantly surprised when I tried one on and it looked great and was actually very flattering for my shape.  Now obviously I did choose one that was age appropriate for me, so it is a knee length one in a black and cream design, with pockets (love a skirt with pockets!), which makes it extra comfy.  Give it a try, you may find that like me, you'll love this look!

Jumpsuit Culottes...

As many of you know I am a huge fan of the jumpsuit.  I have many of them, from solid black dressy, to colored & casual as well as patterned ones.  They can be fun and casual for day, and chic and elegant for evening. They can be slouchy and versatile or structured and fitted.  Whichever way you choose to wear the jumpsuit, you really can't go wrong with this piece of priceless clothing.

But wait....now there's another way to wear it!  Introducing the new culotte jumpsuit!  This year the jumpsuit craze has evolved by introducing the new trendy culottes (which continues to be a big trend this year).  These boast added volume and shortened hems.  Sound too hard to wear?  It's all about proportions ladies.  Make sure the length hits mid-calf and pair with a wedge to elongate legs.

Now....look and try!

The perfect headpiece for a Spring wedding...

It's that time of year again ladies.  That's right...it's the start of wedding season again, and with that comes the quandry of what to wear.  It's that in-between time of the year - not cold and not hot - so a lot of women struggle to know what the perfect outfit is to wear to a Spring wedding.  I will be covering dresses to wear to a Spring wedding in another post, but today I want to focus on the perfect headpiece to wear.  I know that wearing a hat or fascinator is more of a British tradition when it comes to weddings, but I've noticed that this tradition has been catching on here in the States of late.  This makes me very happy, as I love wearing hats or fascinators to weddings or any other special occasion.

It's easy to find the perfect headpiece with an array of designs and colors available online.  With a click of a button your perfect headpiece is selected!  I've also found that I've been able to find some great choices at vintage or consignment stores, and usually at a great price.  Sometimes I've even worked out my entire outfit around my headpiece!  If you're new to this trend don't be freaked out by some of the more 'out there' designs.  You can keep it simple and classic with a small fascinator if you're not ready for something more bold.  For me, the bolder the better!  I have two weddings coming up soon and I'm looking forward to getting out my fascinators and making a statement.

See below some great choices for headpieces and start planning ahead for that Spring wedding...

How to wear the slouchy pant...

The new-fit trend in women's pants is the slouchy pant.  Similar to boyfriend styles, this in-between harem and "relaxed" is going to be everywhere this Spring and Summer.  You'll be hard-pressed to find a retailer that isn't offering something for the slouchy-minded fashion lover.  So what's the appeal?

Not only do they offer comfort (which let's face it ladies, is very important!), but that other favorite term of mine... versatility!  Available in soft and silky textiles, they can easily be styled for work, cocktails or a gallery opening.  They lend a cool, slightly androgynous vibe to any look while still being more feminine than a pair of shapeless denim jeans!

See what I mean with four looks that'll give you inspiration when it comes time to don your own pair.  Think about mixing high and low, metallics with classics and adding in a bit of structure to play off that drapey fit.
