A while ago I had the pleasure of styling a fashion photo-shoot promoting a local clothing boutique. The photo shoot had been in the works for a couple of months, and I was excited about seeing it finally come together. The idea was to showcase fashions for women from every decade, from the twenties through to the seventies, showing how it doesn't matter what age, size or shape you are, you can always look fabulous. I was excited at the prospect of showing how it is possible for women of every age to look chic, classy, edgy, and trendy - and that's exactly what we did!
All the women who participated in this project were amazing. From the young 20 and 30-something girls who wore outfits both young & flirty, cool & edgy, to the more mature ladies who wore chic & classy to trendy & fun, they proved that age is just a number and you can have fun with your clothes no matter what your age! This is proven when you see a 70+ woman rocking a pair of leather pants, or a 50+ woman looking fabulous in jeans and a tee with a studded belt and cute hat! Or see how a 20-something girl can look oh so sophisticated in a green shift dress and black fascinator, looking like she's ready for a day at the races. My 30-something model looked stunning in a simple black fit and flare dress with lace detail, and multiple strings of pearls for that Coco Chanel look.
The night was a lot of work but a lot of fun! All our models were patient and easy to work with, and were happy to try whatever I suggested, making my job much easier too! What struck me, particularly with the more mature ladies, was how as the evening wore on and they were being photographed in their outfits, they sort of became more and more confident and I felt I was witnessing a transformation of sorts with a couple of the women. It was great to witness, and I hope that the ladies continue to dress in a way that makes them feel better and more confident in themselves.
Please take a moment to look at the end result (please bear in mind these are my photos, not the professional ones!), and see how age really doesn't matter when it comes to looking and feeling great...
